If one or more of your teeth are missing or damaged, you may be thinking about how troublesome it is to eat, speak and smile. But if you take a deeper look, the problem goes beyond that. It is not advisable to leave gaps between your teeth as your other teeth may shift into that space. This can result in crooked teeth which will eventually affect functions such as biting and chewing and can damage your other teeth. At the office of Smile Matters Inc., we offer a variety of solutions that help restore your smile in terms of structure, look and function.
We offer premium quality crowns and bridges made of porcelain to help repair and restore your teeth.
A dental crown is a tooth-shaped “cap” that is used to restore the appearance and function of a tooth that is missing or damaged. If a crown is being used to restore a damaged tooth, it will cover or cap the existing structure and protect it from further damage. A crown can also be installed on a dental implant and used to replace a missing tooth. Crowns are also used to support dental bridges. In these cases, they are placed on healthy teeth on both ends of the bridge.
Before a dental crown is applied, preparations must be made. When a crown is going on top of an existing tooth, we must first remove some tooth enamel, so the crown fits properly. If it is being used to replace missing tooth, a dental implant will need to be surgically installed.
Dental bridges are used to replace multiple teeth. Two dental crowns are used to support the middle “bridge” that includes one or more replacement teeth. Bridges provide excellent functionality and strength. For more information about bridges and crowns, please contact our office for a consultation. You can reach us at (206) 201-0656.
